Buy shoes and clothes in Asia

Frequently arriving to Australia with a stop over in an Asian country.

It is very well known in travel and flight crew circles, that Asia is the best place to by fashion for less.

While there is an abundance of cheap fashion options when you have arrived in Australia, its hard to resist a fashion bargain.

Hong Kong, China, Kuala Lumpar, Bali and particularly Bangkok have plenty of fashion for sale cheap. Khao San road in Bangkok is undoubtedly the world centre for knock off, fake fashion.

Some cautions though.

Quality
Quality can be dubious and you should check stitching and the strength of the fabric. Shoes should be checked for quality of stitching, gluing. So try everything on, stretch it, pull it, examine it.

A notable memory is a pair of stretch denim jeans that tore top to bottom along the zip sitting down to a semi-formal dinner. The scene and associated laughter are now an enduring memory.

Don't buy too much
Its often the case that the goods are so cheap that you will be inspired into buy too much, including that knock-off brand shirt that you can't stand to wear as it is FAKE.

Buying too much will overload your backpack or luggage and make life more difficult down track.

Are the shoes really that comfortable?
It is often the case that shoes from the stalls across Asia become instantly uncomfortable the day after purchase. Sandals binned after 2 days is a costly lesson.
