Go back to preferred businesses again and again
If there's a particular employer or job type that you're looking for that a specific then you might find yourself needing to go back to the same employers for businesses a number of times for securing an interview for a job.The key thing to know here is a majority of Australian employers, managers and business operators will reward people that are persistent and proactive and they desire to find work. This is not to me they should go back every day, but there is nothing wrong with dropping in once a week. It may be that you'll have to drop in several times before striking the right person to speak to.
The most perfect example of this is a coffee shop cafe or restaurant where the first attempts to drop in a CV meet the owner or manager you speak with an employee or shift manager. When you think about it you realise that standard employees might see you as competition for work hours and not pass on your CV or messages.
Another tactic is to visit the business in the early hours of operation or just prior to opening this is when you're most likely to find more senior people and possibly in an informal setting. The same goes for the last hour before closing or just after closing time.
Persistence pays off.
