Traditionally this included the McDonald's 30 cent ice cream cone. It may be more now, but used to be a key demonstration of the marketing principle of "lost leader" - give away something cheap to get people in store, so more profitable business can be done.
At the of writing, 7 Eleven stores had the offer of $1 Coffee, and $2.50 donut available just about everywhere.
Its probably not the ideal breakfast, but a cheap snack morning, afternoon and night.
