Keep everything in the fridge so it lasts longer
Travelers visiting Australia from another country typically come from climates that where food can be stored at room temperature with the expectation of lasting a reasonable amount of time. As the climate in Australia is higher, room temperature is higher and so some food does not last as long.
It's a simple suggestion, but it is a good idea to keep most things in the fridge. This specifically includes fruits, vegetables, bread, eggs. Chocolate (which never lasts long anyway) definitely needs needs to be stored in the fridge, behind the fruit and the veges.
Left-over food and take-aways are another thing that should be stored in the fridge so that it will last until Friday after buying it for 1/2 price on a Tuesday.
