Drinks and show - how very London

Thu 19 Jul 2012
While I continue to search for a London ready and happy to have the games there is time out to go for drinks and a show.

I was definitely looking forward to going to Derren Brown and this was a considerable reason to come all the way to London, but first some drinks at the famous and oldest wine bar in London co Gordon's Wine Bar.

Waiting for friends Marie and Louise to arrive there is plenty time to get to know the outdoor Bar man Victor. Ideally him self passionate about wine he set about educating me on Spanish wine and the famous regions there. I soon tipped out the half glass of ordinary Australian blend wine that I'd purchased and bought a whole bottle from the  Rioja region in the north Spain. As luck would have it the bar manager was soon alongside with a rep from the same region - thus I was able to taste some other wines from there. Very nice even though my head hurts this morning.

We trooped over to the Novello theatre now late ish for the show and faced Derren on an empty stomach. It was great - the front row seats let the showman be observed close up, acting out a series of amazing events no doubt done a thousand times before. It's is amazing that he could bring to your mind a dark secret or read the mind of an audience - seemingly magic, himself admitting elsewhere that is just logic, tricks and knowledge. Continuously entertaining it was fun, but what of the real person that I travelled all the way from Australia to see.

Derren Brown if you are reading, I have traveled around the world to have a laugh with you. Here till Sunday on the local number

My uk number is +44 7598 037000
