Lake Constance late afternoon
Mon 20 Aug 2012Not many days left in Europe so a day like this is so valuable. Been over to Rheinfall waterfall in Switzerland. Its the place where the Rhein continues its path through Germany, French border and the low countries to the sea.
The waterfall is fed by snow melt and glaciers, so the water is very old in part... with the Rhein bringing the waters from the alps and catchment. After a temporary stop over in Lake Constance, the water spills down the falls beautifully to create an important tourist stop.
There are plenty of tourists about and services to entice, but jump a wood fence with a cursory warning sign to have a
lay down and watch the walls, take a photo or wet the feet [ipan].
The location is Switzerland, so prices are like Australia, so for cheaper lunch, beers and Fuel! (right on the border) head back to Germany, where there are a couple of opportunities for to enjoy a pizza in the park and a social beer (allowed to be drunk in public).
In all a great way to escape the heat of mid German summer
