Gaudi - so many perfectly good tiles...

Thank goodness for Guadi they must say... Knocking about the Spanish art and architecture scene until 1926, Antoni Gaudi is renowned for so much styling for Spain that still carries on today.

The famous Sagrada Famila, clearly his largest and probably most notable work is still 30 years from completion, 87 years after his death and works elsewhere represent an open ticket for the Spanish to decorate as they please, use any combination of materials, tiles, better broken, stone facades, odd creatures, or carvings of real things.

Its quite impressive really, and quite off the wall, in a way that I have not seen near duplicated elsewhere.

Take for instance, the near by French, who's art and architecture styles are ornate and orderly and make sense. Next door in Germany, even more order constrains design and art.

Not so the Spanish - like the naughty creative kid at the back of the classroom, they are smoking cigarettes and trying to appear more creative than the next with little need for explanation.
