Aussie banquet in Spain

Last evening was the set out opportunity to impress the locals.

On the TV, the slideshow of Airlie Beach and reef images.... on the table a range of Aussie tucker (with some meats substituted).

ON THE MENU
Kangaroo mini burgers
Road kill thai curry
Honey soy Emu salad
Wild boar Sang Chow Bow

And the crowning glory...
Lamingtons for desert.

Local food is very authentic. Tomato squeezed into bread, with oil and salt. Cured meats sliced very thin, Tortilla Patata. There are no so many spices into the local cuisine, so the threat of Asian flavours had me worried about the response I was too get.

Go softly, softly on the spices said host Toni, particularly with my parents.... but for me the curry was all coconut milk and ginger and bounced of the tongue.  The Sang chow bow was also light for bite.

Never mind, they whole lot was devoured, save a lonely lamington that met its match on the following day.

For mine, I was most happy about the Sang Chow Bow. I had never made this dish and had to improvise for ingredients - with great success - it tasted the way I had expected it, and the chilled lettuce leaves gave it a wonderful crunch..... so for next week.
