Hradec Karlove air show

Wed 10 Sep 2014
Spent a couple of great days staying with airbnb just outside Hradec Karlove in a wonderful new weekend apartment in the forest.

From there I was able to look around Hradec Karlove the first night where there was a medieval festival... and a late night school rock band.

Saturday went to the air show offically, for just AUD 15 with a great display of international aircraft and helicopters. Got to talk about learning to fly with a French guy that had come to the Czech Rep because its cheaper to learn to fly there.  Saturday was capped off with a swim in a local lake where the nudists gather - so had to join them.

Sunday I thought to go back and check out the air show again from the opposite side. Turns out that a bunch of cheap-skate Czechs had the same idea, with several hundred spread in grass along the opposite boundary fence... it was even better to watch from here, as the planes were not flying over the crowd, but over us yes! One of the Red Bull team came past at about 50 feet high and 80 feet distant  - you could see the expression his face, and the grey hair. The other great instant was the Czech air force "Gripen" (swedish made) climbing high direct over us, stalling, then pointing straight down from height at you laying there to turn and level out 200 feet overhead with a blast of his engines at full noise .. and I do mean full noise.
