Rome - Old City
After a restful night on my north Rome couch, I roused to the welcome text that Em would like to show me some more of Rome. After an easy ride to town on the bus network, apparently for free (they made it impossible for me to pay), I met Em at the central stop teaming with people and surviving as best as it could in the cold and wet.
We ran an errand and returned to the old part of the city, where we immediately descended to the "Spanish Steps", famous for a movie placement and into the shopping street network we went, travelling from one square to the next.
After a solid walk in yesteryear, there was time for lunch where you purchase your pizza by the per kilo price. We over-ordered and sat for a while before starting on the pyramid of classic italian, to finish somewhere near the goal posts.
Returning to the street there were more fountains, 4 for the day, I think, in total, the Parthenon, and churches too many to count. What is notable about being guided through the inner streets of ancient Rome, even in the hands of a skilled host was akin to a game of the childhood arcade game of Pac man. No ghost creatures to escape, but back and forth we headed, trying to orient ourselves in the semi-geographically aligned streets, too narrow for sun bearings, let alone one of the small Italian cars.
The day closed in and a return to the safety of my couch and more home cooked goodness awaited.
Tomorrow we would produce Em's application video for the best job in the world.
