Sail with Tyson

Tue 31 Mar 2009
Tyson turned up here the other night courtesy of Couch Surfing and we head out on the water shortly after.

After one night at Cid Harbour, we headed back in shore for a variety of reasons that did not come through. Never mind, we met some random germans and had a great dinner on the boat.

Since the weather is f....n awesome, we headed to whitehaven and were able to park up at my favourite beach and point of marriage on the end of Tongue Point. We legged it up to the look out for some fun photos "Let me out of here" at the lookout over Whitehaven Beach.

With the sun setting, we buzzed around to Turtle Bay where and then in the morning to Beach 25. It was there that I sat waiting for the top 16 selection for the best job in the world. Quite a few surprises and dismay to see a number of my friends and favourites not get through. Bizarre! But that's the fame game for you.

Over a Hamo, the construction is noted as they tidy the place for something coming up in May... Not sure what, but its going to be big.

Also had a chance to drop a bottle of Champagne onto a Cumberland Charter Yacht that a friend is taking out for a birthday cruise. Its an awesome boat the Perry 445p.

If the day wasn't going well enough, we ended up with an invitation to Saba Bay. Located on the East side of Hook Island. It was a great sail up there, with the bonus of the Easterly breeze allowing us to sail all the way there, including a first for me, sailing through Hook Passage..... we rounded the back of Oceania and dropped the anchor without having to use the engines... Wonderful.

For fun, we then headed ashore. As a South East exposed beach it was full of seaweed, debris, drift wood and plastic! A speedy return trip to the boat to get some garbo bags was rewarded with a huge pile of plastic making a real afternoon of Island caretaking.

Dinner together on the beach with the butane stove was great and in the morning we sailed around the end of the Wood Pile, Hayman island and back to Airlie, just in time to collect some more crew.

Doesn't look like Tyson is going anywhere just yet!! The fun had only just begun.
